Plastic bags do bring convenience to people's lives, but the convenience at this time brings long-term harm.
The recycling value of plastic bags is low. In addition to the “visual pollution” caused by scattered in urban streets, tourist areas, water bodies, roads and railways, there are potential hazards. The plastic structure is stable, not easily degraded by natural microbial bacteria, and does not separate in the natural environment for a long time. This means that if waste plastic waste is not recycled, it will become a permanent pollutant in the environment and accumulate, which will cause great harm to the environment.
First, it affects agricultural development. The accumulation of waste plastic products in the soil will affect the absorption of nutrients and water by crops, resulting in reduced crop yields.
Second, it poses a threat to the survival of animals. Waste plastic products discarded on land or in water are swallowed by animals as food, causing the animals to die. Last year, there were 20 herdsmen on the shores of Qinghai Lake, and nearly 1,000 sheep were killed. The economic loss was about 300,000 yuan. Sheep like to eat oily residues in plastic bags, but often eat them together with plastic bags. Because the plastics that are eaten stay in the stomach for a long time and are difficult to digest, the stomachs of these sheep are packed and can no longer be eaten. Things can only be starved to death in the end. Such things are not uncommon in zoos, pastoral areas, rural areas, and oceans.
Third, waste plastics will not only occupy a large amount of land with landfill, but the occupied land will not be restored for a long time, affecting the sustainable use of the land. Waste plastic products that enter domestic wastes will not degrade if they are landfilled for 200 years.
Moreover, plastic bags use petroleum as a raw material, which not only consumes a lot of resources, but also cannot be decomposed. Buried in the ground will pollute the land and rivers.
In addition, the plastic bag itself releases harmful gases. Especially cooked foods, often wrapped in plastic bags, often deteriorate. The effects of deteriorating foods on children's healthy development are particularly prominent.
It consumes a lot of energy. According to estimates, it takes 3 tons of oil for every ton of plastic bags produced in China, and the annual consumption of plastic bags in China can be used for at least 3 million ordinary cars for 5 years. Change this situation, eliminate the trend of ultra-thin plastic bags, benefit the country and the people, and work hard for generations!
